The Lector Ministry is an essential part of our parish. Lectors are called to bring the Word of God to life during Mass and other liturgical celebrations. If you are interested in joining this vital ministry, please read the information below and complete the volunteer form.
MINISTRY PROFILE
A lector is a fully initiated Catholic who is well prepared to proclaim the word of God clearly and meaningfully.
WHAT DOES A LECTOR DO?
Proclaims the First and Second Readings.
Leads the Prayers of the faithful.
Prepares spiritually and practically before Mass.
Helps the assembly listen and respond to God’s Word.
QUALIFICATIONS
Fully initiated Catholic.
If married, the marriage is recognized by the Church.
Active parishioner in good standing.
Comfortable speaking in front of the assembly.
Safe Environment Certification (VIRTUS).
TRAINING
Parish formation sessions offered.
Ongoing resources and support are available.
COMMITMENT
Lectors usually serve once every other month.
Lectors are scheduled for the Mass that they normally attend.
Scheduling is managed through the Ministry Scheduler Pro app.
Substitutes can be arranged through the scheduling app.
Lectors may be invited to read at special liturgies during the year.
GUIDELINES
Arrive 10-15 minutes early.
Dress modestly and appropriately.
Proclaim with clarity and reverence.
